Ho Ho Ho! Getting into the festive spirit this week as we headed to Upper Main Street Bangor to check out Christmas gift ideas for the younger folk in the family. From stocking fillers and Secret Santa gifts to bigger presents for the kid who has everything, the shops on Upper Main Street are the perfect place to shop this Christmas and you will be supporting local retailers too!
First up, we headed to DV8, brilliant place to shop for teens. Not only do DV8 have an extensive range of cool brands such as Superdry, Hilfiger Denim and Rare London but they also have loads of super accessories and stocking fillers. We picked out the Superdry watches (from £26).
We also spied these cute purses with on trend badge motifs (£9.99). Pants in the stocking might not be the most exciting gift in the world but we don’t think any discerning fashionista will mind a set of Calvin Klein underwear in Santa’s sack.
For action loving teens into surfing, skiing, skating and the great outdoors, check out Surf Mountain, brilliant for the cool brands like Animal, Brakeburn and Oakley. Definitely a favourite are these vibrant neon Penny boards (£55), perfect for zipping about with your mates and the great range of Longboards and skateboards (from £85).
If you have an older teen who has been bitten by wanderlust then upstairs is definitely worth a look, as well as all the accessories that will keep them safe and comfortable on their travels, there’s also great range of backpacks and luggage for big adventures! For little ones with a journey to nursery or beyond, the Gruffalo Daysack (£24.99) is fab for storing little travel essentials!
Also great for gifts for younger kids was O2, Main Street where we were given a fool-proof demo of their Azoomee Tablet (£130). If a tablet is on your child’s list this year then the Azoomee is definitely worth considering, not only because of its functionality and robust design, but most importantly because of the internet security and protection features that have been developed with kids online safety in mind.
This tablet carries an endorsement from the NSPCC on the packaging and offers parents complete peace of mind ensuring your child can access the web safely and securely. We also loved these fun mini speakers and the Little Rockerz Kids character headphones (£14.99), great for stocking fillers.
Next stop, Excel Clothing on Main Street, Bangor where the kidswear department is located on the first floor. Billie Blush is a big favourite with girls and we loved this year’s Party Skirt (£52) in Navy or Gold tulle with pompoms and sparkly letters decorating the hem. There are loads of options to complete the outfit including Billie Blush T-Shirt (£22) and a show stopping bobble hat (£20) complete with googley eyes – who’s looking at you kid?
For the boys, Gant has dapper little tartan shirts (£41) and V neck sweaters (£37) or there’s plenty of more casual choices from Levi and Timberland.
We completed our shopping in Menarys Tempest, Bangor, a great one-stop destination for Christmas shopping for all ages and budgets. Just in the door and we stopped by the Benefit counter where we browsed the 2017 range of gifts. Beautifully packaged in tissue and gift boxes, no beauty-loving older girl or mum is going to disappointed with Benefit on Christmas morning! If the boys in your house live and breathe rugby, then look out for new Ulster Rugby Kukri range available in kids and adult sizes. We loved the kids Ulster Onesie (£21)….and why not pick one up for Daddy too?
For stocking fillers, Menarys has brilliant products across all the departments, Mini Retro Games (£4 each or 3 for £10), Cath Kidston mini rucksack (£16), Dinosaur pencil case and pencils (£8 and £5.50) and Santa Mug complete with hot chocolate and marshmallows are just a few of the little gifts that will fill those stockings.
We hope we have inspired you to visit Main Street, My Street Bangor for your Christmas Shopping. Check out our “Spot the Reindeer” competition coming soon on Facebook for your chance to win an Azoomee Tablet from O2 Bangor, kids clothes from Excel Clothing and lunch for family in The Heatherlea.
