Bouquet of paper flowers

Simply make these bouquet of flowers using coloured paper and steel wire. You can cut the shapes of the flowers as you desire.

What you’ll need:

  • Paper in different patterns and colours
  • Scissors
  • Steel wire
  • Glue

Decorative notice board

This notice board has been created by carving out a design on a white canvas. It’s perfect for clipping on small shopping lists and pictures.


What you’ll need:

  • White canvas
  • Cutting mat
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Paper clips

If you have some felt balls sitting around the house you could go a step further and create an elegant notice board using them.

Wrap animals with yarn

This is a fun and different way to use up yarn. Search around the house for bits and bobs that can be used to decorate your animals such as glitter, buttons and whatever else you can find.

What you’ll need:

  • Yarn
  • Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Paint
  • Glue gun
  • Bits and bobs for decoration

Fishing game

This one is perfect for the kids! It’s a great way to teach them all the different types of fish and they will have lots of fun colouring them in. Afterwards, they can use what they’ve created as a fishing game.

What you’ll need:

  • Paper clips
  • A magnet
  • Sticks
  • Coloured pencils, pens or paint for colouring
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun or other fluid glue

Decorate hanging flower pots

Hanging flower pots can create a pleasant atmosphere in your outdoor living space. Using colourful beads to decorate the handles gives your pots a fresh new look.

What you’ll need:

  • Flowerpot
  • Decorative beads
  • String

Bug hotel

This is a great way to teach children about the creepy crawlies found in your garden. You can build the wooden box yourself or just use a prebuilt one.

What you’ll need:

  • Wood boards
  • Nails
  • Chicken wire
  • Stuffing for the bug hotel: Withered leaves, cardboard, bamboo, hay, wood etc.

Yarn birds

These yarn birds can be placed on a circle frame, on a branch from your garden or they can hang from a string.

What you’ll need:

  • Cotton yarn
  • Kitchen towel or napkin
  • Cardboard
  • Circle frame for mobile (optional)
  • Glue gun
  • Scissors
