Belfast Community Gospel Choir lifts the roof in Menarys Bangor store with an amazing birthday surprise.
There was singing, dancing and celebration in the air on Upper Main Street, Bangor last Saturday as Menarys and Main Street, My Street came together to mark 20 years of the family owned department store in Bangor.
Unsuspecting shoppers, who had come along to enjoy the Menarys’ birthday offers and promotions, were given an amazing surprise when 45 members of the Belfast Community Gospel Choir, cleverly disguised themselves as shoppers, burst into song on the shop floor with an uplifting rendition of “Oh Happy Day”.
As well as being entertained by a pop up performance from the award winning choir, Saturday shoppers enjoyed a Magic show, face painting, photo bus and birthday cake.
“This was a big milestone for everyone at Menarys, Bangor. When we opened the store twenty years ago, town centre retail was very different,” explains Managing Director, Stephen McCammon.
“The last decade has without doubt brought its challenges but as a company, we are committed to retaining our town centre presence and have made considerable investments to position Menarys for the next ten years and beyond. We are particularly excited by the addition of the newly opened 10,000 sq. ft. Topshop Topman with dedicated store front which was part of a £150,000 investment programme in the Bangor store. As we head into our 21st year, it’s our aim to continue to evolve whilst always offering our customers, old and new, the two things that are synonymous with Menarys, excellent customer service and value that competes across the marketplace.”
The birthday event was co-hosted and supported by the Main Street, My Street Bangor campaign that aims to promote retailers on the Upper Main Street.
