The Ava Bistro has been a welcome addition to growing repertoire of eating out options in Bangor. Flourishing under Head Chef Ross Blair and Manager, Claire Breen, The Ava Bistro prides itself on creating good, honest, food sourced, as much as possible, from local producers and farms and cooked fresh by Ross and his team. Just some of the local food companies featuring daily on the menu are homegrown vegetables, meat and poultry from Scrabo Cottage, a family run farm in County Down and fresh fish from Still Waters fishery based just a few miles down the coast in Portavogie.

The new menu has definitely a great selection of food for everyone, from the adventurous foodie to the younger family members. One of our favourites is the “Surf & Turf” platter to share, a mouthwateringly good burger and fresh lobster to share followed by the “Gin & Tonic” cheesecake, but take note – this contains a measure and half of gin so definitely not for the designated drivers!

The Ava Winebar is well known for a weekly schedule of great events from Curry Nights to Live Music and the Bistro follows suit with their own regular dining specials such as the Tuesday Night Steak Night and one-off events including a Fish Night on 10th May with the team from Still Waters.

Located just on the corner of Upper Main Street, Bangor, a few steps away from the train and bus station, leave the car at home, enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail in the Ava Winebar followed by lunch or dinner in the Ava Bistro … a recipe for perfect evening!

Opening Hours: Closed Mondays except for bank and public holidays, open Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday 5-9pm, Friday & Saturday 12-9:30pm and Sunday 12-7:30pm
